Comparison between Traditional & Islamic Banking System

Generally there are two banking system in the world. One is the traditional banking system & the other is Islamic banking system & the last is proved as a model in banking system.
Traditional banking system is interest-based, which is prohibited by Islam strictly. Because interest is a curse towards human society. It hinders development, creates difference between rich & poor & reduces investment. On the other hand Islamic banking is free from any interest.
We have to know what Islamic banking is. It is said by OIC- Islamic bank is a financial institution whose statutes, rules & procedures expressly state its commitment to the principles of Islamic shariah & to the banking of the receipts & payments of interest in on any of its operation.
a. Islamic bank is committed to operate according to the principles of Islamic shariah.
b. It is free from interest in paying & receiving.
c. It does not deal in money but deals with money as a means to finance productive trading & investment activities, either directly by themselves or in partnership with others seeking to earn profit.
d. It is required to pay to the Zakat funds 2.5% of its capital & profit in every year for the benefit of the poorer section of the country.
e. It shares in the profit & losses if any of enterprises as per agreement with those who take funds from it for actual trade.
f. It has provision for Quard-E-Hasana or beneficent loan in deserving cases without consideration of profit.
The traditional banks take maximum interest at any cost. Material gain is their only target. But Islamic bank wants to help the poor or needed person. It cannot invest its fund to any harmful project. Thus all the efforts & activities it runs towards the socio-economic well being of human society. By this why it can sure-
a. Allocated efficiency of funds.
b. Increase of the investment.
c. Stability in the value of money.
d. Reduce inflation.
e. Mobilization of savings.
In the light of above discussion Islamic banking as a career is lucrative, prospective & bright future to play a vital role for the socio-economic development of the nation as well as for the whole mankind.

Tea on Hilly Land

Tea is a very popular, stimulant & refreshing drink. It is the most common & the cheapest drink in the world.
Tea is generally grown in the hilly regions. It grows well under heavy rainfall & adequate sunshine on the hilly lands & slops where water does not stand. It grows in plenty in India, China, Japan, Indonesia & Bangladesh. In our country, it grows in the hilly areas of Sylhet & Chittagong division & Panchagarh district.
Tea seeds are at first sown in a nursery. The seedlings are then transplanted to bigger areas specially prepared for this purpose & set in rows at a distance of four feet or more from one another. Young plants are to be watered regularly at this stage. The tea field has to be weeded & much care be taken to protect the plants from the pests of insects & worms. When the plants begin to grow, they are pruned every now & then. When the plants are about three years old, their leaves are taken off for use.
The green & young leaves of tea plants are plucked several times a year. Then the leaves are dried in the sun. They are then crushed. Again they are dried in a hot room. Thus different qualities of tea are made. Some tea plants have two leaves & a bud. It is the best quality of tea.
The importance of tea in our national economy is very great. We earn a good amount of foreign exchange every year by exporting tea.

Money through Simple Investment at Beach

One of the best choices of any tourist is traveling at any beautiful beach of the world. For this reason, that beach must have many kinds of opportunities. Particularly security, proper communication, luxuriant hotel management, expert tourist guide & after all a magnificent beach after one’s heart are more essential than others.
Magnificence of any beach mainly depends on its natural beauty but men can increase that beauty with many good qualities. From my experiences I have seen that many men are investing their insignificant savings at beach beside large investor & earning significant money. They are creating tent, mini restaurant even mobile photo studio at beach & various kinds of foods, chain of colorful snails, travelogue, urgent medicine, life buoy, life jacket, safety ring, slanting chair, quick photo are being served there by exchanging money & everything is being possible only by their small savings. I deeply believe that earning money through this process is very funny & profitable. So, let’s try to gain success in near future.

Historical Signs at Mohastan Garh

Mohastan Garh is really an interesting & historical place in Bangladesh. It is seven miles away from the district town of Bogra. It has the relics of the ancient culture, Mazar, old buildings etc. There runs the river Karotoa nearby. So, it offers very charming sceneries together with the murmuring sound of the Karotoa. There is the Mazar Sharif of Balki Sultan who dedicated his life to the cause of Islam. It was during the reign of king Parsuram. The Sultan came from ‘Balkan’ to preach Islam. It was the order of Allah. He gradually won the heart of the people & defeated Parsuram. Now, the Mazar Sharif is visited by thousands of Muslims everyday. There are ‘Zeut Kunda’ & ‘the Museum’ in Mohastan Garh. When the soldiers of Parsuram had been killed in the battle field, the king took water from the pucka well & used to give it on the body of the dead soldiers. As a result, they got back their lives again. So, it was named ‘Zeut Kunda’. Now, there is no wonderful magic power of that so called ‘Zeut Kunda’. There the Museum behind a beautiful flower garden is a soundless evidence of historical & archaeological signs of Mohastan Garh. At Mohastan Garh, the other historical places are the Bridal chamber of Behula & Laxmindar, the Seladevir Ghat & the burial place of the chief disciple of Balkan Sultan.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. I believe that tourists must feel delighted to see the historical places & sceneries at Mohastan Garh & I hope that the memory of this traveling will last for long.

Cottage Industry in Bangladesh

Cottage industry is the small scale industry or the petty industry carried on at home. It does not require heavy machines & large amount of money. It requires only a few laborers & necessary simple tools.
Once, Bangladesh was famous for cottage industry. The Moslin cloth of Bangladesh had world wide fame & demand. Bangladesh earned a good amount of foreign currency by exporting articles of cottage industry in the past. With the advancement of science our cottage industry has been wiped out & the products of cottage industry could not stand in the competitive market. It is an irony of fate that she lost all her glory.
There are certain causes of the decay of cottage industry in Bangladesh. Among them the introduction of modern machineries, higher cost of production in cottage industry than large industry, import of various foreign fancy goods are remarkable. Now our cottage industry is facing many problems that require immediate solution.
The importance of cottage industry in Bangladesh cannot be underrated. We must revive our cottage industry in order to grow economy. With that end of view, we all should be engaged in certain branches of cottage industry according to our ability. The products of cottage industry may be costly. Yet, we should remember that the money spent on it remains in our country.

A Short Story of Bangladeshi Rivers

Bangladesh is a riverine country. Numerous rivers have crossed it like a net. Some of the rivers are big & some are small. The most important rivers in Bangladesh are the Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna & the Brahmaputra. They are very big & wide. All these rivers flow into the Bay of Bengal. The Brahmaputra is the biggest river in this subcontinent.
The Padma is a famous river having its gift ‘Hilsha’ a very tasty fish which earns a lot of foreign exchange. Besides, there are many small rivers like the Buriganga, the Teesta, the Madhumoti, the Karnafuli, the Sitalakshya, the Garai, the Kumar, the Gomoti, the Atrai, the Karotoa, the Kushiara, the Rupsa, the Surma & many more. During the rainy season some of the rivers appear like vast seas.
Most of the rivers of Bangladesh rise from the Himalayan range & fall into the Bay of Bengal. The Padma rises at Gangotri glacier in the Himalayan region & passing through many provinces of India like Uttor Prodesh, Bihar, West Bengal, comes into Bangladesh near Rajshahi & flows down the Bay of Bengal. The Brahmaputra also rises from the Himalayas & flows through Assam come into Bangladesh & flows down the Bay of Bengal. Similarly, many rivers like the Teesta, the Surma rise in the Himalayan region & pass through the lands of Bangladesh.
The rivers supply various kinds of fishes for us. Many people of the country earn their livelihood by fishing in the rivers. They make our lands fertile. Most of the rural songs are born of the people’s love & affection for the rivers. Our literature, art & culture are influenced by our rivers. They have also added to the natural beauty of our country.

Democracy & Islam

Democracy is a form of government of the people, for the people & by the people. It means that supreme power lies with the people. But in Islamic democracy the supreme power lies only with Allah. Man is his representative. In traditional democracy the people have the right to select their chief administrator. The administrator is elected by the majority of voters. Once elected he becomes to administrative head but he cannot be a dictator. He is bound by some rules & regulations. On the other hand in Islamic democracy, the administrator is bound to follow the rules of Quran & Sunnah.
In traditional democracy the country is divided into some constituencies. From every constituency one member is elected by the people. All the members form a legislative assembly. A few members form a cabinet. The administrative head is assisted by the cabinet.
The members of the cabinet run the administration with the help of a bureaucracy. The administrative head, the cabinet, the bureaucracy are all responsible to the legislative assembly. If the administrative head or the president is corrupt the assembly can remove him.
In Islamic democracy also the administrator is removed when he corrupted. Because he is bound to follow Islamic Shariah. In this regard Imam Abu Hanifa said, “When the administrator breaks the rules of Islam then he is not worthy for this post.”

The Longest Beach in the World

It is my pride & privilege to write few lines on Cox’s Bazar-one of the longest natural beaches in the world. I have had the opportunity to visit Cox’s Bazar quite a number of times. Since then, commutations between Cox’s Bazar & other parts of the country have quite improved during few years & I must say that one should not miss the opportunity of making a trip to this wonderful place gifted to us by nature. Talking of communications, there are many bus & train services from Dhaka & Chittagong-really very convenient & comfortable. There are AC, non-AC & economical ways of transportation besides there is also air service for few days in a week from Chittagong & Dhaka. The best way is one can take a journey direct from Dhaka with a short stop at Chittagong & then to Cox’s Bazar or they can come to Chittagong for a day and make the trip to Cox’s Bazar. From Chittagong, it takes about three hour journey & roads are developed & smooth so there is no hassle on the way but can enjoy the scenic views whilst traveling. For accommodation there are ample numbers of hotels, motels, rest house, guesthouse & cottages. There is no problem for accommodation starting from luxurious to economical. It’s better to make reservations before arrival specially during the proper season & government holidays. During the stormy season there is fair discount in hotel tariff. At the beach, the main attraction is the sunset, which is awesome. There are speedboats or jeeps where one can avail rides & there are safety rings on hire to float with the waves. You can also hire beach umbrellas on hourly basis & sit & watch the waves until late. There are also many photographers around who are ready to take pictures and deliver them in short time. The other attractions are the large Buddhist monastery & Himchari, which is famous for its falls. Then there is Inani beach which is famous for the rock & coral boulders. From Cox’s Bazar sea shore, one can go to these place by jeep. There is also a Circuit house where the cox’s Bazar city & the sea can been seen from a height. So, there is so much to see & enjoy only when you are physically there. As mentioned above, I shall inspire everyone not to miss the chance of visiting this amazing zone which nature has so kindly gifted to us.Unfortunately, this is still awaiting to become a major tourist destination in Asia due to lack of publicity. But I am hopeful that within a short time Cox’s Bazar will achieve its goal which it deserved many years ago-Stephanie.

The International Mother Language Day

The role of language in human life is very great. Everyone in the world speaks & loves his own mother language. We are Bangladeshi speak in Bengali & Bengali is our mother language. To establish this language as the state language during the Pakistani regime there was a language movement. In this movement many Bengalis including some students like Asad, Salam, Barkat etc. sacrificed their lives on the 21st February in 1952 & as such the 21st February is regarded as a red-letter day in our national life.
Every year we the Bangladeshis remember this day with due respect. The day in declared as the govt. holiday & on this day the National flag remains half-mast. Now this day is very significant, because this day has been recognized by the UNESCO as the International Mother Language Day in its 30th General Assembly Meeting held in 1999 & we the Bangladeshis celebrated this recognition nationality on the 8th December of the year 1999. No nation of the world sheds their bloods to establish their language but we shed it. However, everybody should take care about his mother language in all aspects of his national life.
